We Can’t Wait to Meet Your New Pet

Now that you have a new puppy or kitten, Monarch Veterinary Hospital wants you to keep him or her happy and healthy. The best way to do this is to start at the beginning with comprehensive veterinary care.

Ideally, we want you to bring your new pet to see us within three days of joining your family. Please bring all of the pet’s records with you on the first visit. Early intervention can reduce the chance of serious illness. We will give your new kitten or puppy a complete physical examination, including checks for:

  • Heart anomalies (murmurs, congenital defects)
  • General health & vigor
  • Genetic problems
  • Conformation (orthopedic or bone structure)
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Dental bite
  • Eye problems (especial congenital)
  • Ear disease
  • Parasites (internal and external)

Your new family pet will be routinely de-wormed, as over 90% of puppies and kittens have intestinal parasites at birth, and then placed on either Sentinel® (puppies) or Revolution® (kittens) to protect against intestinal parasites, heartworms, fleas, and mites. The staff will talk with you about the lifestyle you anticipate for your pet and tailor a vaccination schedule to fit your pet perfectly.

As your young pet grows and matures, the frequent visits to our hospital will help build a comfort level and he or she won’t fear “going to the vet” in the future. We encourage you to bring your pet in anytime for a complimentary nail trim during the first year—just to build trust into the relationship. We make it a fun visit and get them used to having their nails done.

Monarch Veterinary Hospital’s staff of veterinarians will work with you to tailor a program of Wellness for your new pet and modify it as needed when your pet grows older.
