Monarch Veterinary Hospital knows that exotic pets need care that is appropriate just for them. We see rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles, snakes, hamsters, ferrets, and birds. We are also pleased to be able to refer your pet to colleagues near us who specialize in exotics, if needed.

Small mammals like rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and ferrets are very popular pets in many families. These little pets need to be kept in a clean environment, and supervised exercise time in a safe area outside their cages is a must. Provide fresh drinking water daily and feed them a recommended healthy diet. Make sure that both the bedding and cage are cleaned regularly.

Birds are some of the most beautiful and entertaining pets. Parrots, cockatoos, budgies, and finches are fascinating and need a lot of time and attention depending on the breed. The cage you choose must be the correct size for your bird, and you need to have plenty of room for your avian pet to get out of the cage and exercise periodically. We can advise you on the proper diet for your flying friend and are experienced in performing beak and wing trims along with regular care.

Reptiles such as lizards and snakes can be very rewarding to keep as pets. Some of the oldest species on Earth, they come in all colors. They have very specific needs for habitat, including light, temperature, humidity, and diet. In fact, about 80% of the problems we see with reptiles are related to metabolic and environmental issues. Our veterinary technician, Noah Anderson, is very knowledgeable about the husbandry of reptiles. He is happy to discuss their care with you.
